Artist in Residence, Walpole Old Chapel, Suffolk

Artist in Residence
One of the oldest nonconformist chapels in England, Walpole Old Chapel was adapted into a meeting house by the local Independent movement in 1689.
In accordance with their beliefs, the chapel is plain; no altar and no sign of the cross. 18C pine box pews populate the interior.
I am making large observational drawings as a way of getting to know the building. In my studio, I am developing some of these into more abstract pieces. I’m also working on a site-specific installation. The Residency culminates with an exhibition at the chapel in September.
